John Dellinger Commander JOHN D. DELLINGER
2007-2008

ALL TIME HIGH DEPARTMENT

2006-2007

I hope you all had a blessed Holiday season, and made many New Year’s resolutions —— the problem is just keeping them.

It’s really hard to believe that we are approaching another year of Legion business, but just because we are entering a new year doesn't mean that we should stop all our hard work that has been performed so far.  As the next renewal notice hits those individuals that haven’t paid their 2008 dues the week of January 5,, we must remind ourselves to rekindle that motivation and drive that we had during the first six months of the membership Year.  As I see the big picture, we need around 3600 members to renew for you and our Department to make another milestone in this Department’s history.  With your help, I know we can achieve that impossible dream one more time.

Let me report to each of you two things that just happened on January 5, 2008.  First, we held a “Informational Meeting” for all Post Commanders in our new Department Headquarters.  We covered topics such as:  membership, a new Building Capital Campaign, the budget, programs, and fundraising efforts.  It was a very informative meeting for all that attended.  I once again would like to express my deepest gratitude to those 23 Posts that made the effort to hear what is going on in our Department.

The second highlight was the presentation by Jim Hudson Toyota to The American Legion Legacy Scholarship fund in the amount of $6,500.  The same day, Jim Hudson presented the same amount to both the Fisher House and the Wounded Warrior Program.

I would like for us all to achieve the best for our organization this year and beyond, but unfortunately we still has issues remaining.

Remember, the Pride is back.
